  • I Love your school! When can my child start?

We admit children to Reception class in the September before their fifth birthday. Our admissions process is managed by Oxfordshire County Council, and is available on their website. You may also call into our office to request an application form.

  • Can i take my child on holiday during term time?

In short, no. Every day at East Oxford is a unique set of learning experiences and any period of absence means that your child will miss out. Gaps in learning accumulate and children rapidly fall behind. Imagine how they'll struggle in the fourth lesson about fractions if they've missed lessons one, two and three.

Like all Oxfordshire schools, we follow county council policy on attendance, and do not authorise holidays or term time absence. We do refer any cases to the Education Welfare Officer, who will take action as we see fit.

The good news is that your child gets thirteen weeks of school holidays in which they can explore the world!

  • What do you charge for?

As little as possible, because we believe that all children should have equal access to the same education. Visiting workshops, brass lessons, and after-school clubs are generally free to all. We do have to request a voluntary contribution to cover coach hire and the costs of any trips, since the school budget doesn't stretch enough to pay for these. Childcare (e.g. nursery wraparound, before and after school childcare) also attract a charge.

  • What can my child eat in school?

If your child brings a packed lunch or mid-morning snack, we ask that these are healthy and balanced. We do not allow fizzy drinks, chocolate or sweets to be brought to school. - we see these things as occasional 'treats' rather than as part of a daily diet. If you'd rather, we can provide a nutritious hot meal every day. This is free for Reception and KS1 children (up to the end of Year 2), and may be free for older children whose families are on low incomes or in receipt of some benefits. Ask in the office if you wish to know more.

  • Do you have a uniform?

We do not currently have a uniform, although we do have a school jumper and fleece which children are encouraged to wear to show that they are part of the East Oxford team. These are available to order from the school office. We do ask that all children wear sensible, suitable clothes for learning and playing in. In particular, we ask that shoulders are covered (no vest/strappy tops) and shoes/trainers cover your child's toes (no sandals).

  • Can I hire your buildings?

Yes, subject to certain restrictions. A copy of our lettings policy is available here.
